Shalom, my name is Michael Zadok. After many years in IT, internet infrastructure, servers and information indexing, I am happy to bring WebSearch.co.il to the public as a special online project for independent search.
WebSearch.co.il is an anonymous, ad-free search engine. What makes the project special is that users can easily create and adjust parts of their own search algorithm through the Settings and Advanced Search. Ranking factors, language boosts and domain diversity can be tuned in a clear way instead of being hidden behind a completely closed ranking system.
The index itself is a general international index, covering more than one million domains and millions of documents and web pages from many areas. It includes public information, education and research institutions, PDF documents, independent websites, Israeli sources, academic material and scientific content from the open web, while WebSearch.co.il places a special deep-search focus on Israeli, academic and scientific content.
The web data for the search index is provided by our partner INETDEX, which specializes in internet indexing, information processing and search solutions. This cooperation helps make high-quality information from the Israeli web and the wider international internet easier to access.
The goal is to provide a clean, understandable search experience without advertising tracking and without building personal user profiles.
WebSearch.co.il is continuously being developed. We are working on better ways to include image, audio and video content in search, and also on making news and current information faster and easier to find. The project runs on Linux and is based, among other things, on open-source software and modern search infrastructure.
Running a search engine requires servers, bandwidth, storage, monitoring, security and continuous development. Feedback, cooperation, infrastructure support, development help or donations are welcome if you would like to help improve WebSearch.co.il for the public benefit.
